NYU I’m applying to You. NC’19

Today we met with Dr. Dill who is a professor in Public Health and specializes in working with people of color. She explained how she had to pave a road for herself and nothing came easy which is something I needed to hear. She said that she is a professor who actually reaches out to her students which I feel is very important.

We then met with Dominique who majored in Sustainable Fashion (which means fashion that can help the world), at NYU. She made a dress out of condoms to spread awareness about AIDS. I like how she uses her platform to help those who don’t have a voice. She makes a statement through her fashion which is something I aspire to do. She does not just make fashion for the money she actually tries to raise awareness for problems people often do not want to hear about. She explained that networking is key in being successful and how helpful social media is. I asked for her number because she can be a vital connection in order for me to have a fashion business. She told us to always reach out and make people know your name every where you go.

Overall NYU was a campus I could picture myself at because it is very fast paced and in the city. New York is the state I hope to go to school in and in the fall I will absolutely apply to NYU.

Today was very helpful because I learned to self advertise if nobody else is going to do it for you and to try and support other young people like me who are trying to start a business.
