Santa Monica Beach Boardwalk

T’was extremely cold by the time we arrived. However, this did not stop the students from maximizing their experience. They rode rides, walked along the boardwalk and even met celebrity songstress, Jhene Aiko. What was most outstanding was their act of kindness.

As Paris Cain and Tia Dunbar were riding the roller coaster, the boys noticed a hat fall from the ride. At first they joked about it and then one of them inquired, “Wait, whose hat is that?”.
One recognized it belonged to Paris. They all expressed interest in retrieving the hat, yet stood for two minutes discussing the situation. I urged them to hurry up and get the hat. One of the boys picked up the hat and brought it back to the group. They began another discussion, “Aw man…you should act like you don’t have it, and then be like, pscyhe!!” They threw around clever ways in which to deliver the hat. Then I suggested they just give it to her without all of the gimmicks.

As the girls came off the ride, the boys began to chat with them asking about their experience, provoking Paris to talk about her hat. She seemed a bit bummed at having lost her hat and in mid-sentence Davon promptly shifted the mood as he pulled the hat from behind his back and returned it to Paris. The smile on her face could not have been any brighter.
