Khalilah Harris, Deputy Director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans, shares her story

It was a very important morning for the MBK college tour participants as they met with Khalilah Harris, the Deputy Director of the White House Initiative on the Educational Excellence of African-American. Khalilah shared her story with our students which included her passion for helping others and serving the community.

This was a special meeting, because our students were able to share their experiences and express what they need to accomplish educational excellence as young black men.

Langston Scott shared, “This was motivating for me. I want to tell others about it”.

Our students want to tell others about MBK, and they also want to see the MBK initiative continue well after President Obama leaves office. We are very proud of our East Oakland ambassadors and the work they are doing for black men everywhere.
