Alumni Dinner. DC ’19

The Alumni dinner was very valuable because it allowed former EOYDC participants to give knowledge and act as mentors to us. Che really enjoyed it because the alumni’s boosted his confidence about going to a University. He was given a lot of good advice.

He felt proud to be around a lot of black success. We met an alumni name Lollie, a Howard alumni! She informed us about being authentic and embracing what makes you stand out.

Jedah didn’t expect it to be as delicious as it was, she was introduced to new flavors and styles of cooking. She enjoyed the alumni as well she felt like it was talking to siblings. She felt she could contact them at any time if she had any questions, which she really appreciated. Brandon was excited to meet new people from the Bay Area who are now living in the East Coast. Justin enjoyed the dinner because he got a chance to see his sister who is a student at Howard. He got to ask a lot of questions about the school and the alumni’s personal experiences. After the dinner we headed back to the hotel and began to pack for our flight in the morning. Everyone is exhausted but very grateful for having this opportunity to be able to travel outside of their comfort zone and see schools that could potentially be their next step on their journey of life. Thanks so much to Southwest Airlines and the EOYDC pathway to college for making it all possible.
